What is an Emergency and Fuel Surcharge?

Last updated on 06 Apr, 2026

Since March 2020, our partner couriers have introduced a surcharge on all shipments due to the impact that world events has had on shipping networks.

Sherpr have absorbed all costs associated with this surcharge to keep costs low for our customers however from September 2021 we were forced to pass this onto our customers at cost price - we do not profit from these surcharges.

The Emergency Surcharge will be shown on applicable quotes and the specific amount will be based on your specific item sizes and weights. We can only apply the relevant surcharge for your items when you add your items to your booking. This will require your sizes and weights to calculate this.

The Emergency Surcharge will also vary depending on where you are sending to and from. This is not the same worldwide.

Important: There will also be a Fuel Surcharge on top of the base price of each shipment due to the increased fuel costs. This will be reassessed each month and removed when no longer required. Similarly to the Emergency Surcharge, this charge can only be calculated with your specific item size and weights.
