Can I vacuum pack my items being shipped?

Last updated on 06 Apr, 2026

While it is not prohibited, we do not recommend vacuum packing your belongings. Couriers or customs authorities may need to inspect the contents of your baggage in the event of a failed security inspection or during routine customs checks.

If customs need to inspect the contents of any vacuum-packed items, there is no guarantee that they will be able to reseal them as they were originally packed. This could result in your belongings being returned to you in a less secure or less organised state than when you sent them.

Furthermore, any items that have been sealed may appear to the relevant Customs authority as new items. Hence, any declaration of the items being used or of no retail value may be questioned.

For this reason, we advise against vacuum packing to ensure that your items can be inspected without any issues and returned to their original condition.
