Suitcases sent as packaging must not be locked under any circumstance.
For the majority of our shipments, they will undergo security/customs checks after collection or upon arrival at the country of delivery. Should the relevant authority need to inspect your shipment, the locks may be forcibly removed in transit and can cause damage to the suitcase's components.
If sending items with an internal lock, they must clearly appear unlocked. If your items appear locked, they will be assumed to be locked and may be removed or returned to you.
Sherpr is not responsible for damage to suitcases where locks have needed to be removed.
Can I use a TSA lock?
Suitcases sent as packaging must not be locked under any circumstance.
TSA locks use components that not are only made available to the Customs authorities for commercial flight passengers.
When shipping with Sherpr, the items are unaccompanied personal effects and therefore subject to different inspection methods at Customs.
If you do want to secure your items, we do recommend securing your suitcase with a cable or zip tie. As they can be easily accessed in the event of a customs or security inspection.
