When calculating timframes for delivery, Sherpr does not account for any potential delays with customs.
It is quite normal for a shipment to undergo customs clearance for around 24 hours, however if it has been there longer this could indicate that there are further details or paperwork required.
Our team at Sherpr will endeavour to update you every 24 to 48 hours in regards to the status of your shipment whilst at Customs. Should the relevant Customs team require further information to clear your shipment, they may contact the recipient directly or our team on your behalf.
Whenever a shipment is held at Customs, this temporarily leaves the courier network. As Customs are a separate governmental body, Sherpr nor the courier have no control over when a shipment will be handed back to the courier network.
However in most cases when additional paperwork is needed for release, the shipment is usually released back one or two working days after the needed documents are received.
There may be instances where a shipment will be held for additional inspection with an a secondary government agency.
In the occassion such checks occur, Sherpr nor the courier will have no influence on the timeline for the release of your shipment.
Personal effects exemption is the most common reason for customs delays and requires additional documents and processes prior to the release of your shipment.
