When shipping with Sherpr, you are only paying for the cost to transport your goods. However, our team will help assist in authorizing a customs broker to facilitate the customs clearance of your shipment. We will also help provide process and document related advise, whenever applicable.
Whilst our team will help authorize a broker for you, Sherpr are not responsible for any customs related charges. These may be but are not limited to: clearance fees, duties, taxes, ancillary, and multiline or storage charges.
I am exempt from duties and/or taxes. Why do I still need to pay clearance fees? Why is this not included in the shipping cost?
When it comes to exemption from duties and taxes, you may still be charged special clearance fees by the relevant authority.
Sherpr cannot assume that all customers shipping personal effects are eligible for duty and tax exemption. The conditions for duty and tax relief vary per country, circumstances, and documentary proof requested and accepted by Customs.
If Sherpr were to charge clearance fees on top of the transport costs, this would put customers who are not eligible for exemption at a disadvantage, as they would be paying for the incorrect type of customs related charges.
To ensure that each customer is charged fairly, we therefore cannot include any customs related fees in the cost for shipping.
